All the Organism’s Systems Are Go

Krasnye Zori

The group Krasnye Zori has produced its own version of the Do-It-Yourself practical independence course about connecting musical instruments. The radio performance comprises noise collages created by each member of the group, discussions about personal experience, and songs about a love for cables.

«Cables are a circulatory system without which electronic performances would be impossible. When we connect our instruments to the network, we create new, sonorous bodies and draw a new system of interaction. In highlighting this process, which is always in the background, we refer to the importance of invisible work and suggest that listeners join us in observing stories that are hidden from ears and eyes. And perhaps they might start to make music themselves, by connecting a couple of sound instruments. For each of us this kind of connection was empowering.»

Bio

Krasnye Zori is a collective of Helga Luzhnikova, Yulia Kozhemyako, Nastya Kryazhevskaya, and Anna Tereshkina, which brings together various musical genres: ambient, noise, industrial, folk, post-punk, and trip-rock. As well as bass and synths, their set-up includes DIY instruments, children’s toys, and parts from Soviet chandeliers. Krasnye Zori’s music is made up of noises and peals, ironic and caustic poetic metaphors, ritual and mysterious «Siberian» texts, deep and rhythmic bass, and fractured electronic rhythms with a smattering of field recordings.
