Lugovye Mari combine Mari music with shoegaze, dream pop, and ambient. The musicians write songs in Russian and Meadow Mari, drawing on folklore, poetry, and the cultural heritage of the Mari people. Traditional instruments are combined with hazy guitar textures, ambient soundscapes, and a contemporary indie sound.
